For those of you who are not aware, long-time member solixpnoy has been having health problems for some time now. He has been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy which is a serious life-theatening heart condition. Recently through Drew Dice, I have gotten word that Jon may qualify for a new aesthetic/prosthetic heart. This procedure will cost an estimate of 254K and after insurance, just under 200K.

So me and a few other members on here have come up with an idea to help aid Jon and his family in helping pay for this procedure.

We would like to Construct a Nike Sb Calander that would feature photographs of influencial and famous Sbs. All of the proceeds would go to aid Jon and his family.

I am asking for your thoughts, opinions, and suggestions as we get this project off the ground. We have plenty of talented Photographers on here as well as Plenty of Sb 'Heat' to make this project work.

If you feel like you can significantly contribute to this project PM Me , or Drew Dice

Please feel free to post if you have any ideas on how we can distribute, ideas for pictures being taken or know how we could get this project under way

I'm always down to help out Jon. We gotta figure out how it would work though. If shops DO want to carry it in store it would be consignment most likely.

Meaning if they sell a calendar they give us 80% and they take 20%. Who is going to hold all of the money? If we do happen to raise a good amount of money are we going to trust someone with THAT much money?

^^ The Shop idea may or may not work. If we distribute to too many, It would get confusing.

I think we should just focus online at first, mabey putting something on the main page of this site.

Also, does anyone know the legal issues in putting Photos of Nikes on a product and selling it? We wouldn't be making any profit as all proceeds wil be going to help aid Jon and his family.

Yeah that's one of the many issues that could be with it money wise. I personally would have no problem holding the money I know I'm a nobody but I'll be damned if someone tries to rip us off for something like this. It's going to all come down to a trust issue but I'm throwing my name out there to be nominated. I think there will need to be more than one person holding the money. Depending where the calenders are distributed someone representing that area will be partially responsible for money as well. But then like Kr3st mentioned someone ultimately in the end will have to be in charge of all the funds.
I could do my part and represent OC/LA area since there are a few shops locally I know that could help. If this was to happen I know Mitch the manager at BTNC and see if he could help and I know Raineer the owner who runs the store Footage and is known for ebay under the name "thecoolshoeshine" and he could maybe put those up on ebay. His consignment is 85-15.

would it be something like a collage of dunks that came out during that monthin between the years? Just asking, i would be down to put the money down for one, since its for a good cause. Have you though of a price range and also of how much it would cost to get several made? Im Thinking for this to work everything has to be planned out by the end of the year.

^^ But once we explain the situation and how all the proceeds are going to a charitable purpose, I'm sure many of these shops won't change commission to let these sit on thier counters.

Edit: Sharp your right, this needs to go through tons of planning before we put this to work. I was thinking of around $25 per calander if they are really professionally done. Though we can't really be sure until we get a quote and decide the quantity that will be made.

I feel that if we do this right, selling hundreds isn't out of the question.

I was going to mention putting them on eBay. I think it would be a good idea to establish a paypal fund that jon's family has control over and have all of the money sent there. I can foresee issues with the shoe companies as stated earlier so some serious research should be done in that area.

^ The Paypal fund is a good idea. I feel the best way is to have a main account controlled by those heading this, and continuously gift the proceeds to another Paypal account owned by Jon's family. That way we would deal with shipping through Paypal and fees and such.

If nobody has thought of it yet, these should be available in the b/s/t.

I can see if my shop will sell calendars. A few places around my way would for sure carry them.

Is there a number in mind for how many to produce?

Ebay could be one of many excellent ideas for these to be sold. There is no way we could set a price on how much they are to costs because like Z mentioned we would have to find out how much it would cost for them to be produced.
How sharp mentioned we would have to wait for the end of next year for these to be made because the new year is starting and it is already too late for all this to go underworks. If we were to pass the word around the other websites shoes blogs and etc. maybe they could help make a post and help promote.

^ No idea Gmoney, but I know we need to focus on a large scale if we are to make this worthwhile. I know I said it before but and pinned topic and something on the main page of this site would be necessary.

And I do agree waiting till next year if possible would be necessary to do this right.

Calanders aren't too touch to produce. I think a good start would to research any possible copywrite/trademark laws that could prevent the idea from happening and starting to try and piece together the photos or photographers that are going to be featured and make a bootleg copy of one to get a good idea of the cost. Once a printshop has an idea of the quality you are going for I'm sure they would be able to give you some ball park figures on a larger scale operation.

I think monetarily, the responsibility should be shared among several people. This would be so that not one person has access to all the money and any actions with the money would have to be made after the approval of all the other people that share responsibility of the money. Also, I am pretty sure that there are banks that would allow you to create an account to deposit the funds for such a cause and that no money can be withdrawn without all joint account holder signatures.

Just my opinion on a way to manage the money once its gone through paypal as a means of accepting payment for the calendars.
